Math Crafts | Making Math FUN

It’s hard to believe that the grind of the school year is upon us…and that no two schools are handling things exactly the same way right now!

I wish I could hear from each and every one of you and hear about your teaching situation for this year. Are you distance learning? Are you in the classroom? Are you doing some sort of hybrid model? If you’re in the classroom, are things pretty ‘normal’, or do you have some pretty stringent new rules to keep up with? If you’re distance learning, do you think you’ll be back in the classroom at some point this year?

It’s all just so different. And I know it’s hard. I want to bring a little JOY into your classroom this September. I want your students to be excited about school. I want you to have one less activity to plan, and to feel like your students’ instruction is taken care of, so you can focus a little more on taking care of yourself.

So, I want to introduce you to one of my favorite product lines…math crafts! My Math Crafts series recently went digital, and just in time for the fall season! Today, I want to give you the 411 on Math Crafts, and show how they can be a total sanity saver this September!

What are Math Crafts?

Math Crafts are exactly what they sound like! Crafts, but with a purpose. Students practice content-aligned skills all while make something cute that can be displayed to demonstrate their arts and crafts skills, while also displaying their learning!

What Skills Will My Students Practice?

Each of the different crafts that I currently have in my store focuses primarily on one math skill, making them the perfect addition to a math unit, or spiral review for a different time of the year! The craft skills are:

Place Value Donuts

This place value craft focuses on place value to the thousands, but you can use the craft to only build numbers to the hundreds, depending on what grade you teach! Or, you can use the different templates to differentiate for different students.

Taco ‘Bout Shapes

Wrap up your 2D shape unit with this fun geometry craftivity! This printable and digital taco craft is a great review of 2D shapes, and makes a great bulletin board display. You'll find differentiated response sheets and challenge cards for your students who need the extra enrichment. Plus…who doesn’t love tacos??

Pumpkin Shapes

A great craft for Fall, Pumpkin Shapes focuses on 2-D shapes! Wrap up your geometry unit with this craft, or use it to review what students may have learned in previous years! Students will review shape names and attributes, and create a cute jack-o-lantern in the process!

Place Value Haunted House

Another great Halloween craft is Place Value Haunted Houses! Students will love using base ten blocks to create their haunted house. There are differentiated response sheets and challenge cards for your students who need the extra enrichment. This works for both 3-digit and 4-digit numbers. Then, students can color and add Halloween characters to their haunted house!
